Lot 373:
Anonymous series. AE Quadrans, c. 91 BC. Obv. Head of Hercules right, wearing lion's skin; behind, three pellets. Rev. Prow right; before, three pellets. Cr. 339/4B. 1.95 g. 17.00 mm. Choice example, with light brown patina. Good VF/About EF. Classification of lightweight quadrantes of the first century BC is especially difficult, because they are the same weight as the lightweight quadrantes of the late third century BC and often found overstruck on Carthaginian types in Sardinia.
