ENKOLPION RELIQUARY CROSS
Byzantine, c. 10th - 12th century AD.
Byzantine bronze reliquary cross valve. Very schematic engraved and relief decoration, with a togated figure in relief (Virgin Mary?) holding a dove in her left hand. To the left of the figure there is an inscription on two lines, also very stylized, perhaps PAT/ER. In the two tondos there are busts of saints.
Dimensions: 51 x 48 mm. Missings.
