Diva Poppaea and Diva Claudia (died 65 and 63 AD.). AE 20.5 mm. Caesarea, Trachonitis, Syria. Struck under Nero, c. 65 AD. Obv. DIVA POPPAEA AVG. Distyle temple with seated figure of Poppea. Rev. DIVA CLAVD NER F. Hexastyle temple with figure of Nero. RPC I 4846; Hendin 1270. 4.80 g. 20.50 mm. RRR. Extremely rare, lovely brown patina with earthy deposits. Slightly rough surface on reverse. Good F. The only coin issued in the name of Claudia, Nero's daughter, who died in infancy in 63 AD. Poppaea, her mother, was kicked to death by Nero two years later.
