The Iron Crown of the Lombardy; on the back, incuse punch of the crown. 29.25 g. 41.00 mm. Opus: Andieu (Obverse) and Jaley (Reverse). VF. Pendants were often made of coins and medals of historic significance in the 19th century in the era of the Historicism. It required excellent craftsmanship to make them suitable to open up and hold small items (typically pictures, notes or locks of hair). For this kind people generally used thicker coins (old Talers were very popular especially in Germany) and medals.
