Sicily. Islamic (c. 10th or 11th century AD). Amulet lead case. Small box (21.5 x 20.4mm) with a suspension loop on the top and a flap opened on the right to contain in its interior a folded talismanic scroll. D/ Text in Kufic distributed on both sides probably bearing the 'surat al-Ikhlas' (Quran 112, 14), considered particularly apotropaic and especially protective.
