Austria. Maria Theresa (1740-1780). AR Taler, dated 1780, SF. 28.14 g. 40.50 mm. MS. Since the death of Maria Theresa in 1780, the coin has always been dated 1780. After introducing the decimal system (1 Gulden = 100 Kreuzer) in 1858, it lost its status as a currency in Austria. The 'Maria Theresa Thaler' continues to be produced by the Austrian Mint in Vienna.
