Greek Italy. Southern Lucania, Metapontum. Fourrée Nomos, c. 400-340 BC. Obv. Head of Demeter right, hair in sakkos. Rev. ΜΕΤΑΠΟΝΤΙΟΝ. Barley ear with leaf to right; laurel leaf to right. HN Italy cf. 1544; Noe cf. 494, but 544 (same obv. die) and 547 (same rev. die). 7.50 g. 21.00 mm. RRRR. Fascinating issue with evocative laurel leaf on reverse. Apparently unlisted couple dies. Lightly toned. Metal flaws. Good VF.
